Trusting the Lord when the World is Speaking Louder than You

It has become a common cliche for people to say “Trust the Lord”. There is no doubt that we should trust wholeheartedly however it can become confusing when your heart, mind and thoughts desire to act the opposite.

I am not suggesting that as a believer you will not be tested through various trials but fully trusting in the Lord is a character trait that must be continually cultivated and mastered. However what does that mean when everything around you is speaking the opposite? 1. Trust begins with the heart The true test factor comes deep in the heart. It’s one thing to say “I trust you” but if your heart isn’t in it you are just speaking empty words. It’s like a relationship. You can tell when someone is really for you or against you. Trust completely and willingly. “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 2. Clean your attitude The Lord really is bigger than you. The wrong attitude can sabotage destiny. God’s word however is the one thing we know without doubt that is life changing and unchanging. 3. Quiet your feelings Your feelings tend to always be flesh vs spirit driven. A flesh based attitude is typically dependent on feelings and emotions which change. As such if you want to be successful in trusting God you must silence anything including feelings, behaviors and thoughts in opposition to Him. “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Cor 10:5 Surrender all. Surrender the life You created for the one He created! Chrystal
