“She seeks out wool and flax and
works with willing hands [to develop it].
Proverbs 31:13
The Proverbs woman is creative, resourceful and hard working. Verse 13 highlights that is eager, cheerful and willing as she completes her tasks. It’s safe to say there is not a lazy bone in her body.
When something new in our lives begin, such as a new career, marriage or child, we are typically eager to begin the associated tasks it encompasses. It’s fun, new and exciting and we talk about it all the time! The people around us know when we begin talking where the conversation is going.
However overtime if we are not careful the initial zeal can fade and instead of being willing to carry out and add value to the task we become mundane and lack luster with it. We can become doers solely by obligation.
Although we have the best intentions, the lack of eagerness and willingness can not only affect our productivity but can fuel procrastination. Could the reason procrastination is residing within is due to the lack of willingness and eagerness?
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due [its rightful recipients],
When it is in your power to do it.
Do not say to your neighbor,
“Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it,” When you have it with you.”
Proverbs 3:27-28 AMP
As excellent women, we are to carry out our responsibilities and God given tasks willingly and timely. This is part of what makes us excellent! The Lord has provided us with the resources and abilities to complete tasks efficiently and cheerfully. Even if this means you have to scale back on commitments, do so with wisdom to ensure that you can complete the tasks that God has given you dominion over first with diligence and excellence.
As Joyce Meyer once stated “The best intentions don’t produce results.”
Proverbial women are producers. Ask the Lord to help you prioritize and complete tasks in a cheerful, eager and timely manner.
