Proverbs 31 Challenge Day 14: Self Examination

“She sees that her gain is good; Her lamp does not go out, but it burns continually through the night [she is prepared for whatever lies ahead].”

‭‭Proverbs ‭31:18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The Proverbs 31 woman performs a lifelong self-examination to ensure she is not solely a hearer but a doer of God’s Word. She understands her spiritual, mental and physical gains have eternal weight and significance. As such, she is watchful of her actions, thoughts and behaviors ensuring that she is well prepared both spiritually and naturally.

“But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”

Galatians 6:4 NKJV

“(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;”

Romans 2:13 NKJV

The goal of self-examination is to identify strongholds and make corrections as one is convicted of the truth. This continual process requires humility, surrendering false beliefs, experiences, riches and status to ultimately grow in one’s divine calling.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”

Matthew 16:24 NKJV

Self-preservation can hinder one from moving and growing in the Spirit causing reliance on areas God desires freedom from. Through God’s unconditional love, grace and mercy, frames built over the years due to pride and lack of knowledge can be eternally extinguished. The sole condition is that we are participatory with the Spirit of God as he moves.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”

John 10:27-28 NKJV

The Proverbs woman’s continual acceptance and application of the truth enable her light to shine bright equipping her to be prepared for whatever lies ahead. Nothing catches her off guard as she and the Spirit of the Lord are in eternal sync.

The faith walk with Christ is a lifelong journey. Excellent women keep their needle moving forward.
