“Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.”
Proverbs 31:23 NKJV
The husband of the Proverbs woman is a respected leader in his hometown. He is able to peacefully sit among other men in peace as he is well aware that his home is properly cared for by his wife.
He does not question whether the children have been fed or if finances are in order as he has secure confidence in his wife, enabling him to handle the affairs of his calling.
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing,
And obtains favor from the LORD.”
Proverbs 18:22 NKJV
The Proverbs woman is a purpose pusher to the people in her household. As her identity and intentions are rooted in Christ she selflessly encourages her husband and children with pure motives. She is the household’s biggest cheerleader.
“An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.”
Proverbs 12:4 NKJV
Her husband therefore not only has a wife but a true purpose partner. Everything they do is unified, holy and in sync with God. The Proverbs woman acts as her husband’s peripheral vision ensuring that when he discerns a shift from God, she and the household shift with him guaranteeing nothing is left behind.
“Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:12 NKJV
As excellent women we have the honor of being true life partners with our husbands. Through encouragement, cheer and respect they will be led to grab hold of God’s vision for the household with grace and pursuit.
