Proverbs 31 Challenge Day 8: Wise Stewardship


“She considers a [new] field before she buys or accepts it [expanding prudently and not courting neglect of her present duties by assuming other duties]; with her savings [of time and strength] she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard.

The Proverbs woman is an excellent steward of her finances expanding her household’s financial tree with wisdom and discernment. She does not solely earn income to spend but uses her money to make more money wisely. As such, she is uninterested in get rich quick schemes or hasty speculation. She takes time to appraise and research if an investment is worth her time ensuring that the responsibilities of her home are not neglected.

Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

Proverbs 21:5 NLT

Although important, wise stewardship is more than creating and sticking to a budget. It’s about properly managing what you have now to be an even greater steward of future increase. The Lord’s resources are unlimited but He is watchful of how much to entrust one with based on their mastery of stewardship. If one cannot be trusted and a good steward of $1,000 how can $10,000 be entrusted?

“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.”

Luke 16:10 NKJV

The Proverbs woman is prepared for increase. She is a saver and investor, knowing the state of her accounts at all times. She knows what she owns, who she owes and her net worth, enabling wise investments and expansion.

“Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds;

Proverbs 27:23 NKJV
