Proverbs 31 Challenge Day 16: Community & Friendship

“She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31:20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Proverbs woman has a natural giving and hospitable spirit tending to the community’s spiritual and physical needs. She offers physical acts and words of kindness and compassion serving as wise counsel to the people around her.

Just as intentional with giving, she is equally mindful of what she receives. The Proverbs woman is well aware of her inner and outer courtship of friends ensuring that as she builds others up, she on the receiving end participates in wholesome, life giving fellowship.

“The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.”

Proverbs 27:9 NLT

"As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend."

Proverbs 27:17 AMP

She runs far from gossip, envy and worldly conversation ensuring her friendships parallel the Word of God. If she discerns a toxic-becoming friendship she distances herself with wisdom and grace to continue breathing life into the relationship without being influenced by negative behavior.

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“He who walks with wise men will be wise,

But the companion of fools will be destroyed.”

Proverbs 13:20 NKJV

As excellent women, daily communion with the Lord, prayer and fellowship among like-minded believers provide strength to be lifelong givers. Wisdom and knowledge provide discernment of the spiritual, physical and fellowship needs of our community and personal lives.
