Proverbs 31 Challenge Day 19: Appearance

“She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Proverbs woman radiates just as bright externally as internally. In biblical times purple was the most expensive dye and pigment of choice for royalty and nobility. The rarity of the pigment in nature and expense of its creation gave high prestige. The attention the Word brings to the Proverbs woman’s clothing color represents the honor, rarity and attractiveness she embodies.

“There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:”

Luke 16:19 KJV

The Proverbs woman is well known for her class, self-respect and physical attractiveness. She carries herself with honor ensuring she dresses fashionable yet modest. She does not neglect her physical appearance but allocates time daily to ensure she looks visually appealing for God and her husband. Although one can focus either too much or too little on outward appearance, the Proverbs woman finds a balance bringing glory to her husband and God.

“An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,

But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.”

Proverbs 12:4

The home decor of the Proverbs is equally important as her outward appearance. As the CEO of the home she ensures her household is functional and well decorated. She is in tune with home decor trends and creativly obtains items such as tapestries and curtains to ensure her family is well comforted within the home.

Regardless of the budget as excellent women we bring attention and honor to God through physical appearance and home decor. Although not the first priority, our appearance and home setting should reflect the inner respect and praise of the Lord who made us fearfully and wonderfully made. We are to use wisdom in our daily appearance and decor choices for the well being and progression of our household.

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well.”

Psalm 139:14 NKJV
