Proverbs 31 Challenge Day 23: Wise Words

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Words can spur acceleration or hamper one in the Spirit. Using words as God intended coupled with faith, move mountains. Words spoken out of God’s context however cause extreme and unnecessary hardship. As image bearers of God the same power and authority which spoke the heavens and earth into being belong to His believers.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”

Genesis 1:1-3 NKJV

The words we speak therefore are active and alive, creating, enhancing or destroying regardless if spoken jokingly. One must be renewed in God’s word daily to ensure the tongue is aligned with the Spirit of God. Words not provoked by the Spirit are limited and lifeless.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:2 NKJV

Do your words reflect the character of God who created all things? Or have they been influenced by a culture ruled by the prince of the power of the air (Satan)? Why give the enemy an advantage when you are in control of your words.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

1 Peter 5:8 NKJV

Child acting up? Check your words.

Finances in shambles? Check your words. Don’t have any life giving words to say? Don’t say anything until your mind is renewed enough to be an oracle of God. Even David prayed for help in the area of his words.

“Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”

Psalm 141:3 NIV

“Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.”

Proverbs 10:19 NLT

As excellent women we are partnering with God as a mouthpiece to those around us. Every word spoken should propel ourselves and household into divine purpose and righteousness.

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

Ephesians 4:29 NKJV
