Mothers, You are Not Alone

Motherhood is like no other. Early mornings, late nights, constant feedings… after working a eight hour plus work day, coming home can seem like a mountain of tasks that never seem to be completed. As commonly stated, motherhood is a journey. However in the thick of motherhood with a school aged children whose schedules are filled with school projects and sports games, a toddler who can only go to the bathroom with you and an infant who breastfeeds constantly, a cliche quote is the last thing any mother wants to hear.

What is really sought is “How are you doing this mom thing?” or “What do I need to start or stop doing to make life easier?” These thoughts can plague the minds of mothers only to be suppressed by the continual needs of one’s family. This suppression without acknowledgement many times can lead to anxiety, depression or just pure exhaustion.

Where do mothers go from here? There is hope.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls.

For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 (AMP)

True refreshing through an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ renews our souls. The Good News Translation says "Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. (I wonder if Jesus was referring to carrying heavy loads of laundry?)

We can infer from this passage that studying and meditating on the word of God brings about sustainable peace. Take a few moments to yourself today before rushing into the day to rest in the presence of the Lord. He alone provides the sustainable strategy to not just exist but thrive throughout the day.

Rest in Action

What is the Lord saying to me today?

What is a priority today?

I will not focus on _____________________ today but will fix my eyes on ______________________________.
