With our world and nation on health alert what are believers to do? Do we fall into the chaos or totally ignore the media and news outlets? The Bible gives us advice: “But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.” Mark 13:7-8 The Bible confirms that earthquakes, famines, plagues will be prominent in the last days so we should not be surprised. We however are not to be troubled but maintain an intimate relationship with the Lord to abide in His safety and presence. Something to note that even the Proverbs women has no fear of the future but actually laughs! She is in tune with the Lord and instead of being influenced by the world, she abides in the secret place of the Lord who provides wisdom on how to proceed during times of trouble. “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” Proverbs 31:25 NLT Does this mean we are not to be cautious when plagues, famines occur? Absolutely not! We are to be wise in all that we do and the key is to be motivated by the Lord’s wisdom and not fear. Fear pushes you while the Lord guides you with His peace and comfort. A Prayer for Protection and Safety *the key in this scripture is to abide in the Lord, intimately resting in His presence “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”” Psalms 91:1-16 NKJV
